How the calculators work

Each calculator uses the numbers on the page and the assumptions printed next to the result. The math runs on your device. Change an input and the estimate updates. Saving a scenario keeps it on that device. It does not create an account.

Accuracy and financial advice

Results are estimates. A lender, servicer, plan administrator, or tax agency can use different dates, rounding, or fees. The tools are not financial, tax, or legal advice, and they are not a loan offer or a pre-approval.

Where rates come from

You type the rate or APR a scenario should use. The Rates page can also load national averages from FRED, the economic data service of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis: 30-year and 15-year mortgage averages, the federal funds rate, the bank prime rate, the 10-year Treasury yield, and CPI inflation over the prior year. Each figure shows the observation date. If the request fails, the last saved response is shown with that date. These are not a quote from a lender in your area. The mortgage calculator’s 10-year rate stays an example.

Request a calculator

Email support@thecalculatorapp.com with the calculator you want and the inputs you expect to see. We read those notes. A request does not mean the calculator will be added.

Report a bug

Email support@thecalculatorapp.com. Include the calculator name, what you typed, what you expected, what you saw, and whether you were on the website or the iPhone app. Steps in order help us repeat it.
